Osman´s homestay and the our crazy adventures!
Me and susanne we have been so lucky to find this place that is out from all the tourist guide.
basically Osman is a local guy who lives by the river Kinabatangan and he knows really well the jungle around, the animals..and whatever u can find there into the wild!
so we were a nice group of adventure woman, in fact there we meet angy and her mother from australia and the same day that we arrived with us there was Elaine, an american woman who lives in Jakarta.
So the first day we left for a river cruise..looking for wild animals that are living accros the river because almost all the lands around are now occupied by palm coltivations so the only piece of forest still wild is the one close to the river sides. loads of birds, monkies, orangu tan, makako, snake, lizards....some of them are endemic of borneo and are species that u can find just here...as the pigmeo elephants! the one that we were hoping to meet and we just did at the end of the second day after 2 days spent under a quite heavy rain (i got cold after that!).....so incredible, awasame, fantastic!!! wild elephant...16 of them...in front of us...trumpeting!!! and after that they decided to cross the river and all together in line they swamm in an amzing way, and osman told us that the river is quite deep so is really true that elephant are really good swimmer. staying in osman´s house has been a great experience, and not just for the incredible chance that we had about discover the river life and the jungle, but also because we lived with his family composed by six kids and load of kittens and his wife that was so lovely and a great cook!!!
we had a trekking in the jungle that was really adventure. loads of leeches (sanguisughe!!!blaaa!!) mosquitos, mud, worms e chi piu ne ha piu ne ,metta!!!! quello e´stato veramente il top!!! ho tutto filmato ve lo far0´vedere!!! now semporna, dopodomani islands again and dives before to say bye bye to malaysia!!!
